01 Hello, I'm

Daniel
Ostaszewski.

I take games apart. Sometimes I put them back together — and the putting-back-together turned out to be the part I enjoy most. Mostly small things for games other people made.

Started modding because I wanted to fix one small thing in a game I loved. That was the whole plan. It got away from me.

A few things
I've worked on.

Some of these are small, some I only helped with. Drag the strip or use the arrows — click a card to bring it front and centre.

PokeFind

A Pokémon server that runs inside vanilla Minecraft. Nothing to install, no launcher — you join with a server IP.

I joined the team a few years back and built the Bedrock port, which brought it to consoles and phones. These days I mostly help out with the Hytale rebuild. I am not the owner — just one of the developers.

  • Rebuilt the server interfaces for Bedrock — touch screens and controllers instead of mouse and keyboard.
  • Same server, same world: play.pokefind.co runs on console, mobile and PC with nothing to install.
  • Bedrock quirks filed upstream along the way, including a couple of Geyser packet bugs.

Three mods for SSundee

SSundee got in touch and asked me to build a few mods for his channel — two for Rounds, one for Brotato.

Between them the videos have been watched a little over 21.1 million times, which is still an odd thing to type.

  • Two Rounds mods and one Brotato mod, built to a recording deadline.
  • Infinity Gauntlet snap, Playtime grabpack powers, and a Brotato gauntlet run.
  • 21M+ combined views — still the oddest line on this page.

Rounds mods

Six mods for Rounds, from a pick-phase timer to a save-anywhere tool. Together they have been downloaded a little over 1.3 million times.

PickTimer is the one most people have run into. PlayerMarkers and the toxic cloud fix are close behind.

Brotato mods

Small quality-of-life things for Brotato — a better mod list, an item and weapon explorer, stat icons, a roll counter.

None of them change the game much on their own. Together they sand off most of the annoying edges.

Godot Mod Loader

The loader that makes modding possible for a stack of Godot games — Brotato, Dome Keeper, Windowkill and others.

I help maintain it. Most of my time there goes into issues, review, and keeping things working when game updates land.

Open source is a principle for me, not a default. Code anyone can read and reuse gives other developers the freedom to build on it — and to pick up skills they wouldn't get any other way.

  • Mostly unglamorous work: issue triage, PR review, un-breaking things after game updates.
  • Powers mods for Brotato, Dome Keeper, Windowkill and about a dozen other games.
  • Open source on purpose: reading other people's code is how a lot of us learned, and this keeps that door open.

Download counts come straight from the Thunderstore and SpigotMC APIs — they refresh live while you read this, and if an API is ever down the last known number stays up.

04 About

Minecraft is where this started, ten years ago — stupid, simplistic mods and plugins that somehow turned into my professional career.

It began on Italian factions servers — small Bukkit and Spigot plugins, the kind that exist because one server needed one thing fixed. Most of those servers are gone now. The habit of building them never left.

Since then Minecraft has dragged me through most of its ecosystem: Java and Bedrock, Bukkit, Spigot and Sponge, Forge and Fabric, Minestom, and a long stretch of Bedrock entities and optimization work — Geyser included, with a couple of packet fixes shipped upstream so both editions could play on the same server.

Somewhere along the line it became the job: the Bedrock port of PokeFind, the SpaceDelta network, mods for SSundee, development work for Carper Creative. Ten years after the first plugin, a block game pays the bills — and now reaches toward Hytale too.

The Godot half of this page grew out of the same instinct. The Godot Mod Loader is open source on principle: code anyone can read and reuse gives every developer more freedom to learn and build. That's worth more to me than keeping it locked.
